Our NGO organizes scientific education and research programs which aim to find solutions for sustainable development issues (water, food, energy, biodiversity, climate...). It brings together volunteers of all ages who come to learn and apply scientific techniques within our participatory action research projects. These activities for learning about research through doing scientific research take the form of educational school trips or camps for children and teenagers, or citizen science trips for adults, students, businesses or public organizations.
Our NGO encloses several programs of different scientific topics (biodiversity, robotics, geology, astronomy), but also, for example, a program for including girls and women in the practice of sciences or a program of social diversity in sciences.

Internship description

Under the supervision of the Fundraising Manager, you will be involved in the NGO's fundraising activities. The exact details of the internship will be decided with the program manager, taking into account the candidate's specific skills, their professional aims and the needs of the program.

Your tasks

Depending on the project, the tasks may include:

Analysis of current fundraising practices within the NGO
Monitoring calls for projects
Development of a fundraising strategy
Production of communication tools for sponsors
Drafting of applications for public funding
Drafting of private grant applications
Follow-up of grant applications
Writing end-of-project reports for grants already received.

Your Profile

A Student or a graduate, with Bachelor's degree or above, with training in fields of fundraising, NGO administration, international relations...
Ability to adapt and mobility
Previous experience of team working, autonomy
Fluency in English and French compulsory. Knowledge of other languages would be valuable.
Open minded, interested in science education

Conditions

The detail of conditions will depend on the candidate's profile and on the aim off the internship which will be discussed together.
Students: this internship has to take place within the Erasmus+ program which promotes international mobility within Europe. Get information on your eligibility from the international department at your University or your higher education school.
Job seekers : this internship has to take place within the international mobility program of your employment agency. Get information on your eligibility at its international service.
Full-time job based in France (Paris) or Switzerland (Geneva) depending on your country of origin.
Possible missions in France, Switzerland, and potentially in other countries.
Internship length and dates: dates to be decided together for an internship that would last between 3 and 12 months, depending on your situation.
Remuneration conditions: an internship allowance given by the European Union (+/- 600 euros) plus the possibility of an additional allowance paid by the NGO for field missions. During missions, the NGO will take care of travel, food and accommodation expenses.

Outline of New Program

An essential timeframe of 18 months to 2 years is required between the approval of an outline and the first operation to allow for optimal project co-development, effective promotion of the operation, and, consequently, adequate participant enrollment.

Sommaire

This is the procedure for a new program.
In the case of a variation on an existing program, a simplified process may apply (approval by the 3 circles under the responsibility of dir-op, then scheduling), provided that:

there is a program leader, or at least a project manager, for each area necessary for the operation (Research, Educational-Logistics, Development).
minimum timelines are respected, allowing for promotion and enrollment in the program (online publication of the validated description at least 18 months before the first operation).

Steps for the Project Manager

The process must begin at least 2 years before the first operation.

Discuss with the relevant dir-op for a project within an existing local group, or with the Local Group Creation department for a project within a new local group. The dir-op will direct you to a program leader or other relevant contact for preliminary discussions on the concept.

Before the next step: The project must include a research program leader and an educational-logistics program leader (or at least a project manager for each of these aspects).

Create an online draft, meaning a preliminary description on scientific-vacations in the appropriate section. A maximum of the sections in the scientific vacations descriptions should be filled out, at least partially.
Record a short video (around 5 minutes) presenting the concept and upload it to the relevant description.
Prepare a provisional budget, covering both educational-logistics aspects (accommodations, transport, etc.) and research needs (equipment or other).
Notify the relevant dir-op.

Steps for dir-op

Analyze if the project falls within an existing research program (in this case, it is handled by dir-op with the 3 circles) or if it involves a new scientific field (handled by codir).
Add the draft to the draft tracking table.
Notify the relevant people so they can review the draft and contribute to the FAQ, for example through a regular newsletter keeping everyone updated on new projects.
If the project requires a dir-op decision, consult the various stakeholders to assess the draft by answering the following questions:

Is the project scientifically and/or strategically interesting (even if it is still a preliminary concept)?
Is the team responsible for this project (3 circles) well-identified and competent?
Is the project logistically and/or safely viable?
Is the investment necessary to launch this project feasible?
Do we have time to promote and fill this operation?

Steps for the Codir, for drafts requiring a Codir decision

Validation
1. Each member of codir provides feedback/ratings on the points to be validated directly in the draft tracking table.
2. If everyone agrees all points are satisfactory, a meeting is not needed, and the codir validates the draft.
3. If any point is not validated by all codir members, it will be discussed at the next codir meeting to reach a consensus.
Notification
1. If the draft is validated by Codir, whether before or after a meeting, the project manager and relevant dir-op are notified.
2. If consensus finds a point unvalidated, the project manager and relevant dir-op are notified that the draft is not accepted as it is, but that specific improvements are required for it to be considered.
3. If multiple points are not validated, the project manager and relevant dir-op are notified of the rejection and reasons for it.

Post-Decision Steps

For validated drafts: follow the standard programming steps under the responsibility of dir-op: publication of the description, cost structure creation, selection of dates AT LEAST 18 MONTHS AFTER THE CONCEPT IS IMPLEMENTED, publication on osi-start, assignments, etc.

For unvalidated drafts: it is the project manager's responsibility to contact the dir-op again with improvement proposals.

Sommaire

1) Training of Participants

Participants will be trained in the scientific approach: developing research questions, creating protocols, writing results and perspectives, and all processes necessary for their mission.
All stays can be recognized as an internship for a student, with the agreement of the scientific educator and the program manager.
During a participatory stay, the participant is invited to share their specific knowledge with teammates to further enrich the research project.

2) Data Collection

Data collection must:

Comply with the laws of the study country and international laws.
Respect the local culture, its beliefs, and customs.
Promote, when available, methods that do not harm the integrity of the study subject (wildlife, flora, landscape...).
The study should be conducted with minimal impact on the field and must comply with the ethical charter for observing wildlife (see environmental charter).

3) Data Rights and Sharing:

All collected data are open data under Creative Commons license. By default, they will be published under a CC license (“Attribution + Non-Commercial Use + No Derivatives + Share Alike”). However, each program manager may decide to publish certain data under a more permissive CC license (allowing modifications, for example).
Participants who contributed to the data collection must always be credited and acknowledged.

Participants, mentors, partners, or any other individuals participating in an OSI stay agree that the collected data can be used and published as open data for scientific purposes by the NGO's research programs or any other institutional research organization.
Data and knowledge sharing can be done:

with student interns
with other entities, NGOs, researchers, etc.
on participatory databases (e.g., observation.org for biodiversity)

4) Publication of Results

The publication of results is always carried out after validation by the responsible manager of the relevant scientific program within the NGO.
It can be done:

On the websites of each of the NGO's research programs
In journals and/or on science outreach websites
On participatory platforms like PrePrint (e.g., BioRxiv.org and ResearchGate)
In scientific journals with an impact factor

5) Relationship with Public or Private Partner Laboratories

Without a more restrictive contract, institutional partners participating in an OSI participatory project outside their official positions retain their independence.
The NGO commits not to file for patents (see Creative Commons license)

6) Management and Communication of Research Projects

The NGO commits to publicly presenting all its research projects and their progress at least twice a year, during the Geneva Forum and the strategic committees of each research project.
Research programs, through their managers, commit to considering feedback from colleagues, partners, participants, and the scientific community during their evaluations and planning.
Research program managers commit to publishing their scientific reports at a minimum on their website, and possibly in scientific journals in collaboration with relevant partners, in addition to their activity reports.
In cases involving data on sensitive species, scientific reports may not be posted online and will only be sent upon request (with a note about the availability of such reports on the website).

7) Research Project Ethics

Research projects aim to increase knowledge while respecting living and non-living entities, in line with the 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) defined by the UN.
The objectives of the projects are apolitical, secular, and non-dogmatic.
The OSI NGO commits to verifying and respecting the ethics of research projects through internal and peer review, which occurs once a year during the strategic committees of each NGO program.

La première veillée
Le jour d'arrivé à 21h nous avons participé à une veillée de présentation des participants et des règles de vie.
A travers des jeux ludiques nous avons appris à communiquer ainsi qu'à s'adapter aux langages de chacun, puis avec des jeux de mimes nous avons élaboré les règles nécessaires au bon déroulement de la vie collective.
La première activité consistait à créer des tribus avec leur propre langage et façon de communiquer. Il fallait ensuite essayer de communiquer avec chaque tribu dans le but d'échanger un objet.
La deuxième activité consistait en la création de règles de vie en groupe pour différents domaines.
Ces règles ont ensuite été devinées par l'assemblée à l'aide de mimes.

Phase contact
Ce matin, en guise de phase contact, nous avons “testé” le jeu de l'oie “Objectifs Développement Durable”. Répartis en six équipes, nous avions à imaginer des questions, mimes, rébus, jeux destinés au futur public de nos séjours pour aborder les thématiques du développement durable comme “le travail décent et la croissance économique”, “inégalités réduites”, “paix, justice et institutions efficaces”, “vie terrestre”, “bonne santé et bien-être” etc.Dans la bonne humeur et pleins d'énergie, nous avons enrichi le répertoire d'animations possibles pour les séjours OSI !

Planing coop

Aujourd'hui, les futurs éducateurs n'ont pas peur...
Ils s'installent doucement en Rhododendron, inspirent profondément, ouvrent grand leur orifices auditifs, puis, somnolent.
Tout à coup, les formateurs nous ramènent à l'heure, à l'horizon de la raison !
L'élaboration laborieuse mais fructueuse du planning de la semaine se met en marche, et même que ça fonctionne !

Petit aperçu :
X trouve que mettre une conception péda après le repas c'est mieux.
Y trouve aussi.
On change la position de l'activité du vendredi matin et du samedi après midi.
Bidule trouve qu'il faut un coup de conception péda avant la restitution.
On pose de la conception péda avant la restitution.
XX trouve que c'était mieux avant.
XY trouve que trois heure de métier d'éducateur, bah c'est long.
YY dit que si on fait pas ça ! Bah alors c'est pas assez de conception à la suite.
On met le sticker bleu au vendredi matin.
Mais alors ça bouchonne...
On remet le sticker bleu au jeudi après-midi.
Etc.

Atelier du midi : Papillionades, le jeu green made in Eloy

Les papillons sont en danger et il est temps de les sauver !

A travers ce jeu de plateau, les joueurs sont invités à faire prospérer des populations de papillons de jour dans leur milieu naturel. Il faut pour cela placer stratégiquement des ressources (les plante-hôtes) autour desquelles les papillons pourront prospérer.

Il faut prendre pour cela en compte le type de terrain, qui peuvent être impactés par les effets météorologiques ou encore l'activité humaine ! Les joueurs adverses peuvent également influencer la partie...

Atelier du midi sur les insectes

Nous avons eu un atelier sur l'identification des insectes. La première partie de cette initiation nous a permis de reposer les bases de ce qu'est un insecte, les différentes parties du corps (des mandibules aux pattes) et ce qui nous permet de savoir quoi regarder lorsque l'on essaie d'identifier un individu. Dans un second temps, nous avons découvert une clé d'identification simplifiée qui nous permettra sur le terrain de reconnaître les grands ordres (les diverses familles du règne des insectes). La première chose à regarder, c'est le nombre d'ailes de l'insecte puis, déterminer si certaines sont rigides ou souples. Suite à ça, il faut regarder les écailles et nervures des ailes afin de pouvoir classer les insectes en différentes catégories.

Repas spécialité : La sphère des gourmands

La mise en nez
Le Repas des Spécialités arrivant à grands pas, au compte-goutte chacun se précipite dans le “Réf'” pour obtenir le meilleur placement pour y poser son plat. Préparation et mise en place du festin: les saveurs ont volé dans les airs pendant de longues minutes.

La prise en main
20h11: nous inaugurons ce Repas des Spécialités par un joyeux tour de l'assemblée. Chacun explique aux futurs dégustateurs la composition de la spécialité qu'il a rapporté de sa région.

La mise en bouche
20h27. Après cette attente insoutenable, les papilles en folie se sont ruées sur les délicieux mets. Le groupe nous a gâtés: deux tables couvertes de fromages, deux couvertes de desserts... ainsi qu'une grande diversité de tartinades et petites dégustations salées produites par Mère Nature et concoctées par nos soins.

Quel régal !

Brainstorming autour de l'éducation à l'environnement durable
Nous avons constitué trois groupes sur des thèmes différents :

Impact socio-écologique
Gestion de l'effondrement
Les solutions à l'éducation de l'environnement

Chaque groupe démarre en brainstorming face à un panneau et notait ses idées par rapport au sujet. Et toutes les 10 minutes on tournait pour compléter les panneaux remplis par les autres groupes.
Cette proposition nous a amenés à beaucoup échanger par groupe et a mis nos cerveaux en ébullition sur des sujets graves et sérieux.
A la fin de cet échange, par groupe, en fonction des lieux de vacances : Pyrénées - Drôme, Suisse et itinérant, nous devions mettre en place des solutions pratico-pratiques sur les séjours de cet été 2019.

Par exemple :

installer ou utiliser ou réparer les toilettes sèches afin d'économiser l'eau (16 litres par chasse d'eau X nombre d'usagers du site) et les signaliser après vérification de la législation des collectivités
utiliser les légumes du jardin local et des arbres fruitiers (pour Crupies)
fabriquer son propre liquide vaisselle
prévoir un sac poubelle avec un gant de jardinier lors des randonnées ou des sorties pour ramasser les déchets avec les enfants
encourager à éteindre les lumières et à couper l'eau lorsqu'inutiles (l'énergie la plus verte est celle qui n'est pas consommée)
s'approvisionner localement et consommer moins de viande
installer des cuves d'eau pour récupérer l'eau de pluie

Forum

La journée a commencé avec le Forum, nous nous sommes tous regroupés dehors sur le terrain de basket. Julie nous a proposé une première activité : les pingouins sur leur banquise. Après avoir reparti l'ensemble des participants en trois groupes, nous (pingouins) sommes allés nous installer sur des bâches représentant notre morceau de banquise. L'objectif étant de retourner la bâche tout en gardant l'ensemble du groupe dessus. Activité fastidieuse et amusante qui a permis d'éveiller notre cohésion de groupe !
Ensuite, Anne a encadrer la seconde activité, celle-ci consistait a se repartir derrière des plots en fonction des réponses à des questions sur la vie collective. Cela à permis à chacun d'entre nous d'exprimer son point de vu sur différents aspects de la vie quotidienne.

Projet pédagogique par centre

Durant deux heures nous nous sommes réunis le groupe France-Suisse afin de discuter des bases communes du projet pédagogique des différents séjours.

Le projet pédagogique a été défini (suite à un brainstorming) en sept grandes thématiques, qui sont les suivantes:

Vacances et loisirs
Construction de l'individu
Bien Vivre Ensemble
Savoir Faire, Savoir Etre (Résultats)
Ambiance chaleureuse et familiale
Moyens d'évaluation
Débats

Une fois ces éléments définis, nous avons réfléchi pendant une heure, en petits groupes, aux moyens concrets pour la mise en pratique des objectifs pédagogiques visés.

Les résultats de ces réflexions seront partagés demain soir durant un temps de dédié.

Crupies, centre Musiflore

Atelier sur les valeurs
Séance collective afin de définir les valeurs que l'on souhaite mettre en avant et qui représentent, selon nous, OSI.
Nous avons partagé le groupe (70 personnes) en 4 sous groupes. L'animatrice Marie nous a lu des définitions et nous devions retrouver la valeur associée. Ceci sous la forme d'un jeu de rapidité entre les groupes.
Ensuite, chacun a choisi 4 valeurs qui lui sont propre. Nous avons noté l'ensemble de ces mots “valeurs” sur un tableau en les regroupant.
Ce moment a donné lieu à des échanges et débats sur la définition exact d'un mot et s'il se rapporte à une valeur ou un état. ex : émerveillement.

Une fois que collectivement nous avons défini 8 valeurs, chacun a cité les 3 qu'il considère comme les plus importantes.
Les valeurs les plus citées sont :

respect Nature/humaine
échange
crédibilité/transparence

Bonne séance de réflexion et d'échange.

Forum
Nous nous sommes retrouvés dans la salle sans-chaussures après un petit déjeuner riche en céréales, tartines et chocolat.
Nous avons formé un graaaaand cercle tous ensemble puis entamé une petite chansonette interactive afin d'emmerger lentement : “Lou Lou la lou la lou la lou la lé, lou la lou, la lou la lé !”
Ensuite, nous avons fait un atelier d'expression dessiné. Il s'agissait d'exprimer notre humeur du jour, et notre ressenti sur le séjour, en 2 dessins. Nous avons réuni tous les dessins en une grande fresque colorée.

Projet pédadogique : préparation des retransmissions
Ce matin, à 9 :30, nous avons travaillé sur la présentation de notre projet pédagogique en vue de la retransmission de ce soir. Des posters et des diaporamas ont été fabriqués. Nous avons retranscrit toutes les étapes du projet : sensibilisation, contact, découverte , approfondissent, projet, retransmission, bilan.

Métier de l'éducateur : scénettes de mise en situation
Séance collective extérieure en après midi sous un beau soleil provençal...sur les Métiers de l'éducation

Les anciens nous ont présenté, au travers de scénettes, leurs expériences ou anecdotes sensibles durant leurs précédents séjours. Un forum a suivi chaque scénette afin de déterminer les enjeux de la situation et les comportements à adopter dans ce cas. Les différents thèmes étaient :

harcèlement et/ou intimidation
accident physique hors supervision
défaut de communications entre éducs et direction
réserve professionnelle : relations éducs/participants
problème d'autorité

Suite à l'arrivée des prémices orageux (2 gouttes et quart).... des nuages menaçant à l'horizon.... Solène, encore une fois, a hurlé :

TOUS LES MAINS EN L'AIR !!! COUREZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ !!!!!!!!!!

Tout est bien qui finit bien et l'affaire s'est conclue dans la bibliothèque, tous ensemble, bien au chaud.
